Durazzo (Durres in Albanian) is situated in Albania and is the main port of the country and the second most important city after the state capital Tirana. The first settlers of the country were the Greeks in the VII century b.C.; later on became an important center for trading, both in the past and in the most recent times. Its position, closed to Western Europe and to some Italian ports, especially the port of Bari, contributed to make Durazzo the most important port of the Balkans. Recently, in the last years, tourism – not only with local people or migrants – grew up a lot thanks to the beauty of the territory around the city and for its sea.
