Genoa, state capital of Liguria, is the third city of the north Italy for population. The legend says that Ianua, the Latin word for “entrance”, took its name from the god Giano, protector of the entrances; Giano had two faces, similar to the Genoa’s geography, overlooking the sea by one side and stretched against the mountains.
