The Red Island (in French Ile Rousse), inspired by the ocher color of the rocky island used as natural port, was founded in 1758. It is famous for the beautiful beach situated in the middle of the city, for the relaxing and calm atmosphere, for the promenade and the fantastic beaches, all grouped in a small space. Ile Rousse and San Florence are the only two districts with the name translated in French, while the others have only the name in Italian. Port of Ile Rousse departures and arrivals: Tolone and Nice.
