Situated in a gulf in the Tyrrheanian sea, between Amalfi’s coastline (western side) and plain of Sele (south-east side), Salerno is the second most important city of Campania. The first settlers where the Etruscans, substituted, after some time, by Sunnites. The port has a major role and is very important for commerce and trades for the central/southern part of Italy. From here is easy to reach some of the most beautiful places in Amalfi’s coastline, such as Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi, famous for the production of the famous limoncello (a lemon liqueur). Port of Salerno departures and arrivals: Palermo, Messina, Tunis and from/to the close islands of Capri and Procida. The most important sailing companies operating from and to Salerno are Caronte & Tourist and Grimaldi Lines.

Come raggiungere il porto di Salerno

By car: from Naples by highway A3 (Salerno-Reggio Calabria) exit “Vietri sul mare”. From Reggio Calabria, by A3 towards Salerno; from Rome by A30 towards Caserta exit “Fratte/Salerno centro”, following signs to the port. By train: railway station to Salerno, approximately 2 kilometers far from the port. By plane: international airport of Naples, approximately 50 kilometers far, or the airport of Salerno Costa d’Amalfi, approximately 20 kilometers far (has very few arrivals).
