Trieste is the county seat of Friuli Venezia Giulia, located on the giulian coastline, next to the border with Slovenia, in the very heart of the gulf of Trieste. Its weather, usually mild, is distinguished by Bora, a dry and cold wind from north-east, known for the very violent rushes along the coast. Trieste is suspended between a glorious past as the “little Wien on the sea” and its cosmopolitan identity nowadays, distinguished by the elegance of the neo-classical buildings, liberty and baroque; all these styles coexist harmoniously with ancient Roman relics and eighteenth-century buildings. Its port is the first Italian port for containers and has the biggest Highway on the Sea to link Turkey and Europe. Port of Trieste arrivals and departures: Durazzo. The sailing company operating from and to Trieste: Adria Ferries.
