Grandi Navi Veloci is one of the main Italian navigation companies in the fields of coastal navigation and passenger transportation in the Mediterranean Sea.
The company was established in 1992 by Aldo Grimaldi and the first vessel, M/V Majestic, was launched in 1993. Grandi Navi Veloci owns 10 ships and operates on routes to Sardinia, Sicily, Spain, Tunisia, Morocco, France. Other than passenger-oriented services, the Grandi Navi Veloci’s fleet is also involved in the development of the lines of “Autostrade del Mare”: maritime transportation represents a cheaper alternative to traditional road transportation and provides an effective solution to the environmental problems due to the intensive use of vehicles on motorways.
In 2008 GNV launches the route Genoa-Barcelona-Tangier, its first connection to Morocco. In the same year the company introduces a new on-board service for passengers carrying pets with them: it’s Pets, Welcome on Board, which provides special cabins dedicated to pet lovers. In 2012, Grandi Navi Veloci launched two new routes, connecting the French port of Sete to Tangier and Nador.
